AG Sec Rollins Exposes Massive SNAP/Food Stamps Fraud
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins shared shocking statistics on fraud and abuse in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps.
During an appearance on Newsmax she outlined what her department has uncovered after reviewing SNAP information from 29 states, most of them Republican-led, because Democrat-led states were reluctant to share data.
According to Rollins, the USDA discovered that "186,000 deceased men and women and children in this country are receiving a check." She added that "that is what we're really going to start clamping down on." Rollins added that they’ve also identified roughly 500,000 individuals who appear to be collecting duplicate SNAP payments. And because the initial analysis covers only part of the country, the real problem is even larger.
"But here's the really stunning thing: This is just data from those 29 mostly red states. 'Can you imagine when we get our hands on the blue state data what we're going to find?'" she said.
She promised that much-needed reforms will be coming. "It's going to give us a platform and a trajectory to fundamentally rebuild this program, have everyone reapply for their benefit, make sure that everyone that's taking a taxpayer-funded benefit through SNAP or food stamps, that they literally are vulnerable, and they can't survive without it."
