Within seconds, Rep. Ken Buck went from acknowledging the border crisis while making the case against impeaching one of its chief architects.

While appearing on MSNBC, Buck explained that he’s a ā€œsolidā€ no vote on impeachment; ā€œit’s not a high crime or misdemeanor, this a policy difference. Let me say at the outset that there is a crisis at the border. The law needs to be enforced.  But if we start going down this path of impeachment with a cabinet official, we are opening a door as Republicans that we don’t want to open. The next Republican president will face the same scrutiny from Democrats. It’s wrong, and we should not set this precedent.

When it comes to his argument that impeaching Mayorkas would ā€œopen a door,ā€ that door was already opened by Democrats long ago. After two Trump impeachments, why wouldn’t they expand to impeaching cabinet members themselves? Buck himself has predicted another Trump impeachment if he’s convicted then reelected, so he doesn’t have much of an excuse here in pretending that precedent hasn’t already been set.

Watch below:

Buck slammed Mayorkas in 2022 for his weakness on the border, telling him that the American people believe he’s a traitor. So by his own actions, Buck apparently believes that ā€œtraitorsā€ should be leading government agencies.
