Crazy Crockett Wants Trump Impeachment 3.0

Are you ready for impeachment 3.0?

Even Democrats seem to have impeachment fatigue following their failures to remove Donald Trump from office in 2020 and 2021. The latter of which was clearly an attempt to stop him from ever running for office again - and we all know how that went.

Al Green (the Representative, not the singer) filed impeachment articles last month, and Rep. Shri Thanedar pushed impeachment but never followed through on a threat to force a House vote due to pressure from other Democrats. Maybe he just wanted people to hear his name for the first time.

Regardless, the Democrats’ rising star Jasmine Crockett remains undeterred.

Rep. Crockett outlined her plan while speaking at the WFAA’s ā€œInside Texas Politicsā€ show; ā€œOnce we get to the majority, which I’m hoping and praying we get to, next cycle, that allows me to start to open up and do the things that would look like an impeachment Now, whether or not we would put it to a vote, you know, he’s been impeached twice, couldn’t get convicted. There’s a lot of things to consider about whether or not to go forward.ā€

This is ultimately pointless and in a best-case scenario for Democrats would just get them some quickly-forgotten headlines about a conviction in the House, as a two-thirds majority is needed to convict in the Senate and remove Trump from office.

During the ā€œUkraine editionā€ impeachment, Trump was found not guilty on an abuse of power charge and an obstruction of justice charge, with 52 and 53 Senators voting not guilty on each respective charge. During the ā€œJanuary 6ā€ impeachment 57 Senators voted guilty (7 of them being Republicans), but this was short of the 66 needed. Impeachment is even more implausible with Republicans now having three more seats in the Senate than they did in 2021, and four of the Republican Senators that voted for impeachment no longer holding a seat in the chamber.

Without a hint of irony on how she’s announcing she wants to prosecute Trump, Crockett accused Republicans of persecuting Biden (for investigating his alleged misdeeds), and complained about people looking into Hunter Biden’s misdeeds; ā€œOne of the things that we saw that they did very effectively last cycle is that they decided they were going to put Joe Biden into the trial of public opinion,ā€ she continued. ā€œThey went after his son Hunter Biden. They were saying because Hunter was having issues Joe must have issues. And so what they were doing is they were tearing down Joe Biden as well as the Democrats at the same time.ā€

When pressed whether impeaching President Trump was a real possibility if elected the Chair of the House Oversight Committee, she confirmed ā€œI would absolutely at least do an inquiry. Absolutely.ā€

Democrats have seemingly given up on producing new ideas, and have instead opted to take the least popular side of every issue instead. Though to be fair, the rest of her caucus isn't likely to let this go anywhere to avoid racking up yet another embarassing failure.
