Democrats Lose Over 1.3 Million Voters Since 2024 Election

Many states have initiated or continued voter roll cleanups before and after the 2024 presidential election, some as part of routine list maintenance or in response to legal and political pressures.

These cleanups typically involve removing ineligible voters, such as those who have died, moved, or are otherwise ineligible (such as being noncitizens or felons). Unsurprisingly, Democrats have mostly opposed them.

An interesting trend has emerged as a result that shines light into why; Democrat voter registration are ineligible for one valid reason or another at drastically higher rates than Republican registrations.

Since election day 2024 to September of this year (the last month data is available), Republican voter registrations have fallen by -104,966, while Democrats have fallen by -1,305,365, meaning it could be the case that Democrats are losing voters at 12 times the rate of Republicans due to these voter cleanups.

Some of this gap is simply from people de-registering as Democrats, though Decision Desk HQ’s is attributing it to voter list purges due to the size of the Democrats’ drop in registration, which is equal to roughly 2.2% of their registered voters in 2024.

No wonder Democrats love mail-in ballots.
