There wasn’t much “unity” to be seen last night on the House floor from Democrats, who refused a request by Congressional Republicans to have a brief moment of silence for the late Rush Limbaugh, who passed last week at age 70.

South Carolina Congressman Ralph Norman asked “My request is to allow a 30-second moment of silence for the passing of Rush Limbaugh, one of the greatest radio hosts ever, and make that as a formal request.”

“The chair cannot entertain the gentleman’s request, but the chair can recognize the gentleman’s debate time,” he was told.

The request was made as the House was considering the Equality Act, which was passed 224-206, with three Republicans voting in favor. Norman was among those who voted against the act, and explained his reasoning in a tweet yesterday.
