Elon Musk’s DOGE to Investigate Members of Congress Who Got Suspiciously Wealthy

Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency is taking aim at a new target: the mysterious wealth accumulation of some members of Congress. DOGE aims to investigate how certain lawmakers have significantly increased their net worth while serving in public office on relatively modest salaries.
Nancy Pelosi has practically become the face of questionable wealth gains while serving in congress, and her “legendary” stock picking ability has attracted attention for decades. Pelosi’s not the only one, Congresspeople tend to outperform the stock market - and plenty outperform her.
There are other ways besides insider trading that Congresspeople could get rich, such as taking bribes, putting friends and family on payrolls, passing legislation that benefits friends and family, getting paid exorbitant amounts for book deals and public speeches (indicating the likely sale of influence), among other methods.
Whatever they are, Musk and DOGE are looking to find out who is benefitting from it and how.
As the New York Post reported:
While speaking at a town hall in Wisconsin, one attendee at the town hall had asked if DOGE had uncovered evidence of funds wired from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to Rep. Maxine Waters, Sen. Adam Schiff and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Musk alleged that members of Congress are lining their pockets with government dollars. “They’ll [the government] send the money overseas to one NGO [non-governmental organization], then they’ll go through a bunch of them, and then I’m highly confident that a bunch of that money then comes back to the United States and lands in the pockets of the people you just mentioned,” Musk replied.
“But it is a circuitous route. It doesn’t go directly, but let’s just say that there’s a lot of strangely wealthy members of Congress where I’m trying to connect the dots of, ‘How do they become rich?'”
“How do they get $20 million if they’re earning $200,000 a year?” Musk further pondered. “We’re going to try to figure it out and certainly stop it from happening.”
The most recent headline-catching discovery from Musk’s DOGE was that millions of noncitizens were given social security numbers under Joe Biden.
