In a rarity for late night, a conservative was actually invited on.

In the Donald Trump-era, late night has turned into “group therapy for liberals.” An analysis of Stephen Colbert’s show, which will end in May 2026, found that he’d had on 176 liberal guests, with the only “conservative” guest ever invited on being Liz Cheney.

Greg Gutfeld, host of the wildly popular Gutfeld! on Fox News, appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show” last night, to the surprise of many.

They avoided politics entirely, which the majority of comments on clips of the appearance applauded - though most liberals complained that Fallon didn’t attack Gutfeld over his pro-Trump stance, and some conservatives criticized Gutfeld for not using the platform for attacking Democrats.

Gutfeld and Fallon reminisced about their first meeting 15 years earlier at an “illegal speakeasy” in Hell’s Kitchen, where a drunken Fallon playfully tackled Gutfeld and his colleague, leading to a wrestling match. Fallon, confirming the story’s details, apologized for the tackle, and both shared laughs over the memory.

Gutfeld also discussed his career path, mentioning his early firings, his Fox News show Red Eye, and his current role hosting Gutfeld! and The Five.

It was perhaps the only watchable segment from late night in the past decade, watch below:

The mainstream media, meanwhile, isn’t taking it well.
