Jean-Pierre Dismisses Classifying Nashville School Shooting as Hate Crime
Karine Jean-Pierre appeared mildly annoyed when asked if the White House supported classifying the Nashville school shooting as a hate crime.
âFormer Vice President Pence said that if the shooter who killed six people in that Christian school in Tennessee was motivated by a hatred towards Christians, that the crime should be categorized as a hate crime. Iâm wondering what the President thinks of that kind of designationâ one reporter asked.
âItâs not for us to decide,â KJP coldly replied.
Watch below:
While a motive hasnât yet been released to the public in the shooting, many have speculated that the school was targeted for being Christian. Police did say they âstrongly believeâ the attacker had other targets, including a mall, which could be interpreted as evidence to the contrary. However, the attackerâs unreleased manifesto is likely to hold the ultimate truth behind what motivated the attack.
In the days following the shooting, the administration didnât acknowledge that the attack was on a Christian school, or even use the word âChristianâ once.
In past hate crimes, real and suspected, Biden was quick to mention the identity of the victims. When four Muslim men were found murdered in Albuquerque in August 2022, Biden put out a statement that he was âangered and saddened by the horrific killings of four Muslim men in Albuquerque,â and condemned the âhateful attack.â Though in that case, the man arrested and charged in the murders turned out to be Muslim himself, ruling out the possibility of a hate crime.
