Karine Jean-Pierre is out with a new book (speaking of books…), and even the hosts of CBS Mornings couldn’t believe a central complaint of hers: that the Democrat Party forced Joe Biden out of the 2024 presidential race.

Host Tony Dokoupil told her So, when this book landed on my desk and I saw A Broken White House in the subtitle, I have to say I thought that you were going to say that try as you might to convince Joe Biden to drop out of the race, because what we were seeing is what you were seeing and he was struggling, couldn’t do it, I thought you would say you were angry at that, but mostly –”

Gayle King chimed in “I did too.”

Of course, it has to be noted that both of them were willing to pretend that Biden was functioning A-OK as well until the presidential debate made that impossible to deny.

Prior to dropping out, according to former Obama speechwriter Jon Fevreau, internal polling had Trump winning by over 400 electoral votes

In an excerpt from the book published by the New York Post, Jean-Pierre gave a firsthand account of the call from Biden when he told the White House team that he was dropping out of the race.

“Biden seemed to be totally at peace with his decision, but I was stunned, my feelings a blur. I was angry and sad. I was enraged and heartbroken that this man had given more than 50 years of his life to serving the American people, and in the end he’d been treated poorly by members of his own party. It was horrible,” Jean-Pierre wrote.

It is indeed a shame that Biden didn’t stay in the race - because of how satisfying it would’ve been to see Trump take in over three-quarters of the electoral college votes.
