Liberal Media Bemoans Illegals Losing Taxpayer-Funded Healthcare After Years of Denying They Receive Them

After decades of the liberal media trying to assure the American public that illegal aliens aren’t getting taxpayer funded benefits, they’re rushing to bemoan illegal aliens losing taxpayer funded benefits now that they’re at risk.

Much like NPR and PBS going from assuring us that they’re basically independent because the government only accounts for a sliver of their revenues to claiming to be in crisis mode overnight after losing funding, we’re not given an explanation for the shift - but it’s there. (Notably, NPR stopped using the platform X when it labeled their account “Government Funded Media” on the basis that it wasn't a significant share of their funding).

One such publication to pull a 180 was the Chicago Tribute, which bemoaned that thousands of illegals in the state would lose their access to “free” healthcare after Congress passed the landmark Our Big Beautiful Bill Act. The outlet’s admission confirmed that the radical left was lying about illegal immigrants not having access to free healthcare.

“In Illinois, adult immigrants ages 42-64 without legal status have lost their health care to save an estimated $404 million,” the Tribune posted in X.

According to the Tribune, at least seven states provide free healthcare for illegal immigrants and a handful are considering ending or limiting coverage, which could affect hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens. “But three of them have done an about-face, ending or limiting coverage for hundreds of thousands of immigrants who aren’t in the U.S. legally in California, Illinois and Minnesota.”

In addition to this making obvious fiscal sense because illegals never should’ve been receiving benefits in the first place, stripping them also acts as a catalyst for self-deportation. At the turn of the 20th century, in a pre-welfare state America, the majority of those who entered through Ellis Island ended up returning to their countries of origin because they had no choice if they couldn’t make it in America.

After Donald Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill becomes law, many states will be forced to drop illegals when the federal government reduces funding matching from 90% to 80% for states that voluntarily cover undocumented individuals. States to be affected include Arizona, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Utah, and Virginia. Subsequently, up to 1.9 million illegals will stop receiving free healthcare.

It’s a start.
