Mamdani Wants to Spend $100 Million to Protect 400,000 Illegals From Deportation
Zohran Mamdani wants to use $100 million in New Yorkers’ taxpayer dollars to provide legal services to shield 400,000 illegal aliens at risk of deportation.
He made the case during a MSNBC appearance.
“Sanctuary city policies have kept us safe. I would commit to increasing the staff of our law department by 200 to bring us back to pre-COVID levels, and to ensure that when we look at the city, we’re using all tools at our disposal to keep New Yorkers together, to keep families together. 400,000 of our residents right now are in urgent risk of deportation.”
“The city knows when it provides them legal assistance their chance of going home increases elevenfold,” he explained. By “home,” he means the exact opposite of “home,” of course (remaining in the U.S. illegally).
In NYC, illegals already have access to Medicaid, mental health services, various forms of public assistance, public schools, higher education at in-state tuition rates, and more. In fiscal year 2024 alone, NYC spent $3.75 billion on “asylum seeker shelter and services,” a relatively small subset of the illegal population.
