Report: Rosenstein to Stay on at DOJ “A Little Longer” Than Expected

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will stay at the Department of Justice “a little longer” than initially anticipated according to reports from Fox News and CNN.

Breitbart reports that Rosenstein reached a deal with Attorney General William Barr to remain in his position after previously planning to leave in mid-March. He has yet to submit his two weeks notice to the White House.

Last month, Barr announced he had chosen Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation Jeffrey Rosen to fill Rosenstein’s shoes.

A disturbing New York Times report in September 2018 revealed that Rosenstein wanted to secretly record President Trump to “expose the chaos consuming the administration.” He also, allegedly, discussed invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office.

Rosenstein has denied the reports about him, and stories surfaced that he made the comments “in jest.” However, former FBI General Counsel James Baker told Congress he took Rosenstein’s comments “seriously.” Former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe also recently revealed that the former Deputy Attorney General was “absolutely serious” when he offered to secretly record Trump.
