Rubio Slams Sen. Van Hollen to His Face: We Deported Gang Members, Including The One You Had A Margarita With

After the usual theatrics during Congressional hearings, Senator Chris Van Hollen told Senator Marco Rubio that he regretted voting for him for Secretary of State after going on a lengthy tangent.
“Your campaign of fear and repression is eating away at the foundational values of our democracy,” Van Hollen said, comparing the Trump administration’s efforts to deport anti-Israel student visa holders and illegal immigrants to the (totally legitimate) “Red Scare” of the 1950s. “And I have to tell you directly and personally that I regret voting for you for secretary of state,” he added.
Van Hollen is now best known as being the Senator who rallied behind the so-called “Maryland Dad” Abrego Garcia, who is an illegal alien with multiple domestic abuse filings against him, who the DHS says is an MS-13 member. He infamously went down to El Salvador to lobby for him, appeared to have a margarita with him - and when questioned about the domestic abuse allegations against him at a presser, appeared to have had no clue about them.
Rubio fired back that his regret is a sign he’s doing a great job - which led to Van Hollen losing it. “That’s just a flippant statement, Mr. Secretary!”
“I’m actually very proud of the work we’ve done with USAID,” Rubio continued. “For example, I don’t regret cutting $10 million for male circumcisions in Mozambique. I don’t know how that makes us stronger and more prosperous as a nation.”
Amid more interruptions, Rubio turned his attention to Van Hollen’s absurd actions about Abrego Garca. “In the case of El Salvador, absolutely, absolutely, we deported gang members — gang members including the one you had a margarita with. And that guy is a human trafficker, and that guy is a gangbanger, and the evidence is going to be clear in the days to come.”
