Teens Who Attacked DOGE Staffer Now Face Federal Charges

U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro revealed the identities of two adult suspects charged with assaulting former DOGE employee âBig Ballsâ Edward Coristine.
At a press conference she identified 19-year-old Laurence Cotton-Powell and 18-year-old Anthony Taylor as alleged perpetrators in the August attack. Just last week two 15-year-olds involved in the assault only received probation after they pleaded guilty.
And to prevent any more slaps on the wrist, Pirro is bringing criminal charges against the adult attackers.
Pirro highlighted Cotton-Powellâs prior criminal record, criticizing the districtâs superior court for granting him probation after a felony attempted robbery conviction (this precedes the assault on Coristine).
âSo, after a felony of attempted robbery, conviction, after a violation of probation, after a second crime; after a second conviction, after no compliance with the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency the judges say, âDo better,â and they let him go. And guess what? Within 10 days, heâs at it again with Ethan Levine and Edward Coristine,â Pirro stated.
But this time he likely wonât get off as easily - now the duo is charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and assault with intent to commit robbery. Both charges are punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Theyâre also charged with attempted carjacking, which has a penalty of up to five years.
