Trump Considering $1 Billion Defamation Lawsuit Against BBC Over Deceptively Edited Video
President Donald Trump is mulling suing the BBC after they deceptively edited his speech on January 6th, 2021.
The BBC’s “Trump: A Second Chance?” documentary, included a clip from Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally speech, and spliced together two different parts of his speech to incorrectly quote him as saying; “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and I’ll be there with you. And we fight. We fight like hell.”
The real quote was; “We’re going to walk down, and I’ll be there with you, we’re going to walk down, we’re going to walk down. Anyone you want, but I think right here, we’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them. Because you’ll never take back our country with weakness.”
BBC’s CEO and Director-General have since resigned from the BBC over the scandal, and Trump’s lawyer Alejandro Britt threatened to hit them with a defamation lawsuit for “no less than” $1 billion. During an interview with Laura Ingraham, Trump was intent to follow through with the threat.
