After previously floating the idea of temporarily acting as Speaker until a replacement from within the House is found, Donald Trump just endorsed Jim Jordan for the position.
Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social platform,writing âCongressman Jim Jordan has been a STAR long before making his very successful journey to Washington, D.C., representing Ohioâs 4th Congressional District. Respected by all, he is now Chairman of the House Judiciary CommitteeâŚHe will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete & Total Endorsement!â
House Republicans are holding a candidate forum for the next speaker on Tuesday. Besides Jordan, Rep. Steve Scalise is the only other declared candidate.
