President Donald Trump is set to issue an executive order to stop the discrimination against conservatives from big banks.
A number of prominent conservatives and right-wing organizations have been victims of “debanking” (being dropped by their bank over politics), including Melania and Barron Trump, and the Trump Organization. Overseas, ReformUK leader Nigel Farage has been debanked.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the order will direct bank regulators to investigate financial institutions accused of violating the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, antitrust laws, or consumer financial protection laws, and any banks found guilty of such violations would be subject to fines or consent decrees.
It also states that cases would be referred to the Attorney General before being dealt with by the Justice Department. The draft order cites some banks that might have been involved in the investigation into the events of January 6, 2021, the post noted.
