White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dodged a question numerous times on if the Biden administration supported reparations for descendents of slaves in the U.S., a policy that California set up an entire task force to study. The task force’s reparations plan would cost nearly $1 trillion - which is even more absurd when you remember that California was admitted to the union as a free state. Meanwhile in Congress, “Squad” Democrat Rep. Cori Bush is pushing for $14 trillion in reparations. KJP was asked by April Ryan about Bush’s push for reparations, and asked what the administration’s view on the matter is.

"As it relates to reparations, I saw just moments ago Cori Bush's resolution. We haven't reviewed the proposal yet, some new proposals, so we'll take a look at it.  So I can't comment on that specifically. But the president has been really clear as it relates to reparations. He wants to see a study of reparations and studying the continuing impacts of slavery. He believes that is incredibly important," she said.

When pressed on whether or not Biden would support a financial payout, KJP decided to dodge the question; "So, look, I will say this: We've got to let the study move forward. We've got tosee what the study shows, and we've got to continue to study the impact of slavery."
