WSJ: Elon Musk Abandoning “America Party” Idea, Signals Financial Support for Vance 2028

After spiraling for a couple of weeks, Elon Musk is walking back his plans for a third party known as the “America Party.”
It immediately became clear that his proposed party had no base of support, and that if Americans were going to support a third-party, it wasn’t going to be Musk’s.
Third parties have had almost no influence in American politics in the past century, with only some local parties holding positions in local legislatures, or parties like the Vermont Progressive Party having seats in the state legislature. The largest national third Party, the Libertarian Party, only has 0.44% of registered voters, while the Green Party has 0.13%.
Musk’s, meanwhile, is going to remain at 0%.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Musk is now signaling that he will direct his financial support toward Vice President JD Vance’s expected 2028 presidential campaign.
Musk reportedly backed away from the America Party idea because he feared it would only siphon off votes from his Republican allies in Washington.
